partnership

1.

LPCS would like to partner along with the ESSA & Title 1 Department to provide supplemental resources to diverse schools to contribute to preparing students for college and career readiness.

2.

LPCS will monitor the effectiveness of the virtual tutoring program focusing on improving students’ academic achievement and eliminating the achievement gap.

3.

LPCS will provide supporting activities to increase parent, family, and community engagement in order to bridge the gap between home, school, and community.

4.

LPCS has partnered with a elementary school in a large urban  School District in the state of Maryland.  The general education population has 533 students from Pre-K to fifth grade and 37 students in the Special Education Regional Program. Over 64  are ESOL students and 47 are Special Education students that are also in general education classes. The school has a high mobility rate of 40.00% in 2018, 53.7% in 2019 and 34.9% for 2020. These transition rates have tremendously affected student performance for the past 3 years.

5.

The school has been identified as a Schoolwide Title 1Program. As a result of the added Title 1 funding's. The school has chosen to target it’s most needy students who are struggling in Reading and Math.  Based on bassline data from iReady the targeted grades are 1-2 Reading and 3-5 Math. Data results determined that students in these grades were most neediest for academic support.

6.

A core team, which is composed of the following; administrators, department chairpersons, grade level chairpersons, and specialists met, collected and organized data for the past two years to determine the school’s needs.  Qualitative and quantitative data were analyzed, implications were made and next steps were designed to maintain strengths, address weaknesses and identify the next steps based on the data.

7.

The team looked at trended data when available in reading and math. Attendance and suspension data was considered as well as different forms of qualitative data to help determine school reform strategies, professional development needs,  parent engagement needs and potential activities.

VIRTUAL TUTORING PROGRAM

Our 2020 - 2021 Schoolwide Title I Program will service grades 1- 5 grade students who scored between 8 and 10  in Reading on the Weighing and Ranking sheets. The Title I Reading Resource Teacher will keep track of their attendance and academic performance. Students who have been retained or considered for retention were also considered when selecting targeted students. Students may be signed out of the program with parental notification or upon the request of the principal or recommendation of the Title I Resource Teacher. Students will remain in the program all year unless they meet the exit criteria for the program.

All Grade K, Grade 1 and Grade 2 classroom teachers collected Reading data for each student using the rubric below. This data was used in order to identify student needs and services for the Title I Program. Each teacher was given the Multi-Criteria Rubric for Reading. The scores are then weighted on a point scale to determine eligibility for receiving services funded by the Title I Program. It was determined that the academically needy students will be those students whose combined scores were between 8 and 10 on the Student Ranking & Eligibility Form in Reading. The following chart shows the Multi-criteria used for each grade level.

For Math the school has chosen to initially service 3rd-5th learners. The students, whom were selected to receive extra services, were chosen by being weighed and ranked on  (2) criteria. Each student received a number between 1 and 5  for each criteria (depending on where they fell within the selected criterion). The 2 numbers received based on the 2 criteria were then added together. Students who received a combined score between ____8__and ___10____, were those identified to be most academically needed and will be the students receiving Title 1 Math services by our Math Resource.
